Yvonne Featherston

Yvonne F. Featherston, age 77, of Wautoma, passed away early Friday morning July 15, 2016 at Theda Care Medical Center in Appleton after a short illness of Spinal Meningitis.

She was born June 25, 1939 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Russell and Fay Irene (Rawson) Schwersinske. She married Cecil W. Featherston on March 21, 1959 in Pine River.

Yvonne was a 1957 graduate of Wild Rose High School. She worked as a reporter for the Oshkosh Northwestern Newspaper in the Wautoma office for many years. Later, she was secretary at Riverview School in Wautoma until her retirement. Yvonne was so happy to experience a hot air balloon ride and travel to Hawaii with her husband. She was a longtime active member of Grace United Methodist Church and belonged to the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Cecil W. Featherston, Wautoma; four children, Charlotte (Bob) Nigbor, Redgranite, Christine (Randy) Cherney, Stevens Point, John Featherston, Wautoma, Brian (Lisa) Featherston, Fond du Lac; 12 grandchildren, Sara (Joe) Reinsbach, Eric Nigbor, Melissa (Kurt) Ninneman, Jeremy Featherston, Steven Nigbor, Jackie Cherney, Reanna Featherston, Kayla (Randall) Depies, Jacob Featherston, Nicole Cherney (fiancé, Derrick Koback), Myranda Cherney and Katheryn Cherney; nine great grandchildren, Ryan, Meradeth, Natasha, Ella, Noah, Cassie, Elizabeth, Lilly and Bentley; two sisters, Judy (Ted) Bauer, Wautoma, Joyce (Ed) Lippert, Fremont; brothers-in-law, David McKern, CA, Eldon (Sherryl) Featherston, NY, Harold (Mike) Featherston, Berlin, Boyd Featherston (Amy Schneider), Wautoma; sisters-in-law, Betty (Ron) Kutzleb, Neshkoro, Daisy Featherston, Wautoma. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Yvonne was preceded in death by one sister, Carol McKern; her parents, Russell and Fay Schwersinske; and by her sister-in-law, Carol Crandall.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Wautoma with Rev. Rafael Cubilette officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Town of Dakota.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma and on Tuesday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in her memory.
