William "Curley" Johnston, age 85, of Hancock, passed away peacefully, January 24, 2013 at Wild Rose Hospital with his family at his side.
He was born July 22, 1927 at Berlin, the son of William R. and Emma (Huddleson) Johnston. He married Elizabeth Fowler, which later ended in divorce.
Curley farmed for a number of years and later owned and operated Curley's Bar and Grill in Hancock. He enjoyed gardening and socializing with family and friends. His greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, William (his favorite Polish daughter-in-law, Bernadette) Johnston; John (Louise) Johnston; eight grandchildren, Misti, Josh (Joni), Jason, Jennifer (Eric), Erik (Nicole) Melinda (Kelly), Jeremy (Heidi), Malissa (Brandon); 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; his sister, Velma Schmachel; a special canine companion, Lexus; further survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Evelyn Lambert and Florence Voight; two brothers, Robert and Donald Johnston.
Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home, Plainfield with the Rev. Eric L. Hambrock officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. Sunday until the time of services at the funeral home.
