Willard G. Christensen, age 86, of Wautoma, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton. He was born April 15, 1925 in the township of Saxeville, Waushara County, the son of John and Effie (Petersen) Christensen. He married Eileen Hartford on June 2, 1951 at the former Wautoma Holden Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church. Willard enjoyed working 40 years as a self-employed produce distributor, delivering potatoes and onions through- out the area. He was a loving devoted husband, father, grandfather, and faithful member of Hope Lutheran Church. Willard was always a farmer at heart, enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and flower beds. In his retirement, he volunteered at church and loved spending time with his family and friends. Each summer and fall he and his wife spent much of their time traveling, camping, fishing and hunting. He served as Sexton of Hope Lutheran Church for many years. His memory will be cherished by his wife, Eileen Christensen, Wautoma; three daughters, Sherri (Dale) Attoe, Poy Sippi, Mary (Gary) Detlor, Hancock, Julie (Craig) Nothstine, Green Bay; eight grandchildren, Sarah June Attoe, Nicholas (Tina) Attoe, Nathan Detlor, twins Megan (fiancé, Bryan Meyer) Detlor and Amanda Detlor, Thor Nothstine, twins Max Nothstine and Isabella Nothstine; two great-grandchildren, Grace Detlor and Blake Attoe. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law John Kettlewell, Waupaca, Delbert (Dorla) Hartford, Alder, MT, Vernon (Barbara) Hartford, Hancock; sisters-in-law, Rose (the late Richard) Bruene, Iowa, Polly (the late Robert) Hartford, Wautoma, Joanne (Jim) Dunn, Pardeeville, Irene (the late Frank) Hartford, California; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Mary Ann Kettlewell, and his brothers and sisters-in-law Marguerite (John) Thompson, Harland (Arlene) Hartford, Della (Clifford) Olson, Keith (Geraldine) Hartford and Darwin Hartford in infancy. Willard will be truly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Wautoma with Rev. Nathan A. Gauerke officiating. Burial will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday at the Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
