Walter Naab

July 16, 1930 — March 15, 2012

Walter P. "Walt" Naab, age 81, of Wautoma went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 15, 2012 with his family by his side. Walt was born on July 16, 1930 to Milton and Mabel (nee Fick) Naab in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee in 1949, from there he went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry Management from University of Idaho-Moscow in 1953. Walter served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He then began his career working for the Wisconsin Conservation Department in Tomahawk. In April of 1956, Walter married Christina Davidson. She preceded him in death in January of 1989. He later married Nancy (nee Volbrecht) Sutherland of Menomonee Falls in December of 1989. Walter went on to have a 33 year career with the Department of Natural Resources and retired as an Area Supervisor for Forest Management in East Central Area of Wisconsin. Walt was an active member at Hope Lutheran Church, Wautoma and in his community where he participated in the Kiwanis, Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association, the American Foresters and the Crystal Lake Club. Walt is survived by his wife Nancy Naab of Wautoma; three daughters Valerie (Jon) Phillip of Neenah; Margaret Naab of Germantown; Yvonne (Mark) Whitney of Chandler, AZ; two step- sons, Dan (Nancy) Sutherland of Slinger and Gary (Diana) Sutherland of Oconomowoc. He is further survived by his grandchildren Lindsay (Reed) Johnson, Allison (Tim) Burns, Graeme Phillip, Cameron and Shelby Naab, Emily, Kailey, Jacob and Joshua Whitney, Jack, Megan, Paige and Jonah Sutherland; one great-grandchild Rachel Johnson; one sister-in-law Cheryl Naab of Illinois, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Christina, one brother Carl Naab and one step-daughter Jill Sutherland. Walter left a legacy of faith, honor and integrity for his family, friends and community. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Walter P. "Walt" Naab will be held on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 11:00am in Hope Lutheran Church, Wautoma with Rev. Nathan Gauerke officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Monday from 9:30am until the time of services at the Church. In lieu of flowers memorials to Hope Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Woodlands Owners Association, Carbone Cancer Center at University Hospital are greatly appreciated.
