She was born March 25, 1918 in Oshkosh, the daughter of Rolla and Amanda (Timm) Miller. She married Robert William Bales on May 2, 1962. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2018. Violet will be buried next to Robert at Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega.
