Verna Mae Bursack, age 90 of Wautoma, died on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Wild Rose Manor. She was born on March 27, 1927 in Wautoma to Albert and Alma (Schrank) Schubert. Verna graduated from Wautoma High School with the Class of 1945 and on June 30, 1945 she married Arthur Bursack in Wautoma. Verna cared for her family until the children were older and then she went to work at the Wautoma High School as a Kitchen Aid and retired in 1985. Verna loved gardening and was known for her “Green Thumb”. She also enjoyed traveling on trips, crafts, bible class, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Verna was also very active at Peace Lutheran Church as a member of the Evening Guild, Kitchen Band and Ladies Aid as well as AARP where she volunteered. Verna will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Verna is survived by her daughters: Charlotte Panko, Jean (Dexter) Porter, Mary (Myron) Giese; grandchildren: Matthew (Nikki) Porter, Melissa (Jon) Witkowski, Janell (Ryan) Bohn, James (Nicole) Panko, Tara (Dan) Niemuth; great grandchildren: Tyler, Mason, Camille, Hunter, Peyton, Nathan, Nolan, Ayden, Hailey, Josie, Emily, Annabelle; sister-in-law: Edith Bursack; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Arthur Bursack; brothers: Frank (Audrey), Arden (Carolyn); sons-in-law: Richard Panko, Harold Kautzer, Bruce Phillips and brothers-in-law: Garth Bursack and James Bursack.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Saturday, Sept 2, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church, Wautoma with burial to follow at Wautoma Union Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at church on Saturday from 9AM until the time of services at 11AM.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Verna’s name.
