Thomas William Pagel, 80, of Wautoma, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Friday, March 1, 2013 at his home. Thomas was born February 8, 1933 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Carl Pagel and Dorothy Green (Simonar). He later moved to Manitowoc, Wisconsin then Carlsville, Wisconsin where he graduated from Sevastopol High School in 1952. He worked at the shipyards in Manitowoc, then for Kimberly Clark Corporation, first in Field Service and then as Maintenance Foreman until his retirement in 1989, when he began work building his retirement home in Wautoma. He also taught an art course at Fox Valley Technical College early in his career and found time to return to his art as a watercolor painter after his retirement. Tom was also a devoted golfer, whose love for the game was surpassed only by his love and dedication to family. He was a compassionate man who valued honesty, character and hard work.
Tom is survived by his loving wife Cindy; brother Robert (Annabelle) Green of Two Rivers; sister Dorothy Lou Vreeke of Honeoye, New York; son George Pagel of Greenville; daughter Vicky Schmidt of Laurel, Missippi; daughter Sherry Kempen of Appleton; daughter Lysha Leger of Bogalusa, Louisiana. He is also survived by step-daughters Wendy (Sher) Gulzad of Whitefish Bay, Pam (Christoph) Volk of Oconomowoc and Stacey (Mike) McGann of Whitefish Bay. He is further survived by 2 grandchildren, Derrick and Logan and 8 step-grandchildren, Bailey, Caroline, Maggie, Katie, Claire, Cooper, Francesca and Julianna. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother William, and granddaughter Amanda. He will be missed by his beloved dog Ginger.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, March 5 at Mount Morris Holden Lutheran Church, N3388 State HIghway 152, Mount Morris, WI. Visitation will precede the service from 10 am to 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
