Theodore R. Stewart, age 90, of Hancock, passed away Sunday evening, October 7, 2012, at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids. He was born July 21, 1922 in Sacramento, CA, the son of Frank and Anna (Sheldon) Stewart. He married the former Dorothy M. Schendel in 1955. She preceded him in death in 1977. He married Virginia V. (Hendrickson) Groves on Dec. 30, 1978 at Bensenville, IL.
Theodore served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He resided in Wood Dale, IL for many years where he was employed as Chief Engineer for D.A. Matot Corp. of Chicago for 40 years until his retirement. He moved to rural Hancock on Jan. 2, 2003 from Wood Dale, IL. He loved woodworking and being active at the Hancock Meal Site. Theodore belonged to Rogers-Oestreich American Legion Post 343, Hancock/Coloma. He is survived by his wife, Virginia V. Stewart, Hancock; three children, George (Patricia) Stewart, Schaumburg, IL, Charles (Signa) Groves, Washburn, WI; Terri (Jeffrey) Horacek, Hancock, WI; daughter-in-law, Hope Stewart, Yorkville, IL; grandchildren, Carrie (Paige) Stewart-Crawford, Chicago, IL; Jeffrey (Adrienne) Stewart, Schaumburg, IL; Jennifer (John) Waldschmidt, West Chicago, IL; Matthew Stewart, Naper- ville, IL; Michael Stewart, Naperville, IL; Susan Larsen (Perry), Hoffman Estates, IL; Keri (Dan) McGuire, North Lake, IL; Peter (Brenda) Groves, Bourbonnais, IL; Kristy (Dan) Pleet, Almond, WI; Kelly (Jeffrey) Bacon, Hancock, WI; Terry (Ron) Swanson, Green River, WY, Scott Suave, Washburn, WI; 12 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife Dorothy, he was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, 4 brothers and by one son, Gerald Stewart. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield with Rev. Eric L. Hambrock officiating. Burial with full military honors at Colburn/Leola Cemetery, Town of Colburn, Adams County. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
