Tabitha Thurber-Smith, age 45, of Wautoma, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at her home. She was born June 9, 1967 in Wild Rose, the daughter of Ann S. Thurber. She married Scott R. Smith on September 28, 1996 at West Holden Lutheran Church in Wautoma. Tabitha was a 1985 graduate of Wautoma High School and attended Fox Valley Technical College. She worked as a private respite provider and later as a care provider for United Cerebral Palsy. She was co-owner along with her dear friend, Laura Sullivan-Nelsen of Forever Young Adult Daycare Center in Wautoma from 1999 until 2003. Tabitha
was care coordinator of Diverse Options of Ripon and Green Lake. She also was employed at the Golden Nugget of Pine River. At the time of her death, Tabitha worked as a case worker for Waushara Industries of Wautoma. Tabitha was an active member of Waushara Community Church of Wautoma, WI. She loved serving the Lord and was baptized by Pastor Alan Spitler and Pastor Niall Philyaw in August of 2012 with her family. She was a team member on a mission trip to Liberia, Africa in April-May of 2011. Her absolute favorite time spent was with her husband and children. She was an avid Wautoma "Big County" (Holden) football fan, along with the Green Bay Packers. She is survived by her husband, Scott R. Smith, Wautoma; two children, Paris Thurber, a nursing student at Marian University in Fond du Lac, and Holden Smith, at home; her mother, Ann S. Thurber, Wautoma; aunts and uncles, Penny McGhee, Wautoma, Barbara Thurber, Wautoma, Helen (Roger) Leach, Coloma; Sharon McGhee (Dave Blockowitz), Wild Rose, Sharon (the late, Loren "Pete") Thurber, Coloma, Joan Hamilton, Sparta, Debra Thurber, Nekoosa, Joli (the late, Courtright) Thurber, North Carolina,
Micheal Thurber, Coloma, and James (Rachel) Thurber, Trinity, Florida. She is further survived by many cousins; special friend, Laura Sullivan-Nelsen, Wild Rose; other friends and coworkers at Waushara Industries especially, Mervin Beechy, Drew Yeska, Steven Rouse, Rita Storzbach, and Guido Thomsen. She was preceded in death by her adopted father, Art Johnson; grandparents, Loren and Ethel Thurber; and by her uncles, Loren "Pete" Thurber and Courtright Thurber.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 3:00p.m. at Waushara Community Church with Rev. R. Alan Spitler officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Coloma. A meal will be served before the visitation beginning at 1:00p.m. Visitation will be held on Sunday at the Church from 1:30p.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
