Sonia Siegel

February 17, 1942 — October 25, 2013

Sonia Mary Siegel, 71, Wautoma, journeyed peacefully to her heavenly home on October 25, 2013 after her difficult battle with cancer.

She was born February 17, 1942 in Cowley, England to Mary (Marge) and Ronald Thurley. Her father was killed fighting for Great Britain during WWII when she was only 6 months old. She Graduated from Wautoma High School and attended County Normal Teaching School. She married the love of her life John Siegel on August 6, 1960.

Sonia's great joy in life was gardening and she enjoyed all the years she worked at the Farm Market in Wautoma. Many people sought out her advice about what flowers or plants they needed and where to plant them. Sonia had a talent for designing gardens. Sonia's greatest talent was listening and lending comfort to all she met. Sonia's faith in God was profound. Even during the most difficult times she would be found offering her praises. She had no fear as the time came for her battle to end as she knew she would be spending eternity in Heaven.

We extend a very special and heartfelt thank you to Dr.. Geller and his staff at Berlin Hospital for their wonderful care and also to Affinity Hospice for all their support.

Sonia is survived by her husband John; 3 children Joe (Sue) Siegel, Wautoma; Desiree (Shawn) Reetz, Neshkoro; John (Regina) Siegel, LaCrosse; 7 grand- children Jonah and Sara Siegel, Wautoma; Zachary Reetz, Neshkoro; Jayson Reetz, Racine; Christopher, Antonio and Jasmine Siegel, LaCrosse; one great grandchild Trenton; one sister Sheila Russo; one brother Ronald (Gail) Thurley; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, sister, and an infant son.

Visitation will be 9-11:30 with funeral service at 11:30am Thursday October 31, 2013 at Hope Lutheran Church, Wautoma. A memorial has been established.
