Shirley Hertel

Shirley Eleanor Hertel, age 84 of Pine River, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Berlin Hospital. She was born on February 16, 1928 in Milwaukee to Joseph and Julia Ann (Kornfehl) Siepe. On September 17, 1949 she married Theodore "Ted" L. Hertel in Milwaukee at Ebenezer Lutheran Church. The couple resided in Milwaukee until moving to Pine River in 1990. Shirley was on the board at the Poy Sippi Library. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Saxeville. Shirley enjoyed taking pictures, working on the computer and especially loved garden and taking care of her flowers.

Shirley is survived by her husband: Theodore "Ted" Hertel, Pine River; two sons: Jeffrey Hertel, Pine River, John Hertel, Wind Lake; two grandchildren: Vina Marie Hertel, Milwaukee, Johnny Hertel, Wind Lake; five great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, January 11, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church, W4570 CTY RD A, Saxeville, WI 54976. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Vicki Fink. Burial will take place in the spring at Poy Sippi Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, January 11th from 10am until the time of service at 11am.
