Sharon Louise Thurber, age 80, of Coloma, passed away peacefully, May 14, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Green Lake.
She was born on October 2, 1943. She was the daughter of Veda and Ernest Wagner. On July 25, 1960, she married Loren “Pete” Thurber in Hancock. Their 2 children were blessed to have her as a stay-at-home mom.
Sharon enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, baking, canning, word search puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and Sunday morning biscuits and gravy with her church friends. She had a strong faith and was a member of Calvary Methodist Church in Coloma. She loved visits from her children, grandchildren, sister, nieces, friends and neighbors, who usually were met with a smile and sweet disposition.
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Steve) Jones, Green Lake, and son, Ernest (Tracy) Thurber, Somerset; loving grandchildren: Bill and Brian Jones, both of Green Lake, Caitlyn Thurber, Somerset, and Henry Thurber, Ann Arbor, Michigan; one sister, Joanne Monroe, Montello; sisters-in-law: Penny McGhee and Debra Thurber; brothers-in-law: Mike Thurber and James (Rachel) Thurber; further survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters-in law: Barb Thurber, Ann Thurber, Sharon McGhee, and Helen Leach; brothers-in law: Gordon Monroe, Bill Thurber, and Courtright Thurber.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 490 N. Slater St., Coloma, WI 54930 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Lee Hyunmin officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Coloma immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established for Coloma Community Park and Calvary United Methodist Church. The family would like to say a “Special” thank you to Carole Johnson, Kacie Kopach and family and Tahya Reetz, whose help and companionship helped her stay in her home as long as possible. Thank you to Transitions Home and Health workers, Generations Hospice workers, and especially Dr. Long Nguyen and staff who always took the time to answer questions, help, and show compassion not only to our mother, but to her family as well.
