Russell Collins

July 24, 1951 — August 4, 2013

JIM (Russell) COLLINS, age 62, passed away at his home in Hancock, WI on Sunday, August 4, 2013. Jim was a loving father, an adoring grandfather, brother and uncle. Jim was born on July 24, 1951 in Rockford, Illinois. He was the son of Bobby Gene and Mary Theresa (Dewey) Collins. He married Linda (Heisler) Narvaez in Rockford on July 29, 1972. They had two children Heather (Collins) Schwersenska and Jamie Collins. As a teenager, he moved up to Wild Rose living with relatives and close family-friends, Gerald and Pat Korleski. During this time, he attended Wild Rose High School. After high school, he returned to Rockford, met and married Linda Heisler and owned a septic business there. In the mid-80's he and his children moved up to Wild Rose permanently where he continued to run his business. He eventually worked for the Wild Rose School District as a bus driver for about 7 ½ years until his health began to deteriorate.

Jim loved attending sporting events with his children and their friends while they attended Wild Rose High. He also loved being a bus driver. He enjoyed wild life, deer hunting, taking pictures, spending time with family and friends, and most of all, every minute he got to be with his only granddaughter, Averi Jae. Jim was always a jokester and spent many years as a "personal greeter" and coffee drinker at Lauritzen's gas station in Wild Rose!

Survivors include his children: Heather (Mike) Schwersenska of Wautoma; Jamie Collins of Aurora, CO; his granddaughter: Averi Schwersenska; siblings: Dennis (Janet) Collins of Machesney Park, IL, Kevin (Tonya) Collins of Machesney Park, IL, Kathy (Brian) Blosser of Rockford; uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; brother: Mike and an infant sister: Joyce.

A service and gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at the Korleski property on Pretty Lake, W6461 Aniwa Road, Wild Rose.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established. Cards and letters can be sent to Heather Schwersenska, 218 N. Mossy Oak Ct., Wautoma, WI 54982.
