Roy L. Johnson, age 67, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, Sept 12th, 2010, with his family by his side in his Redgranite home after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
He was born December 24, 1942 in Miami, FL, the son of Everett Johnson and Mildred (Kussman) Hansel. He married Terrlyn A. Dreblow on March 8, 1968 in Rockford, IL.
Roy earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Psychology from UW Oshkosh and Iowa State, successively. He founded Johnson Plumbing and Heating of Redgranite, which he successfully ran for 40 years. His son Patrick now runs the family business.
He is survived by his wife, Terri A. Johnson, Redgranite; three children: Kristin (Brian) Bott, Madison, Brian Johnson, Silver Spring, MD, Patrick Johnson, Redgranite; grandchildren: Cameron, Jaydon and Carson Bott; brothers and sisters: Charlotte (Mike) Roberts, Stevens Point, Roberta Laine, Stevens Point, Steve (Sue) Hansel, Appleton; further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and sister Irene.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at the Johnson home (W5101 Happersett Ln) on Friday, Sept 17th, from 3 to 7 p.m. with a brief service at 6:30 p.m. Visitors should feel free to bring pictures and/or stories of Roy to share.
