Roger Eichsteadt

Roger W. Eichsteadt, age 60, of Wautoma, passed away peacefully at his home after a long bout with cancer on Friday, July 6, 2012. He was born November 7, 1951 in Berlin, the son of Victor and Berle (Wilson) Eichsteadt. Roger grew up on the family farm in Dakota. He was the last person ever drafted in Waushara County in 1971 into the Army. Roger was introduced to Cheryl Puterbaugh on a blind date in 1984 and were later married on March 21, 1986. Roger loved his family and friends and just about every person he met was a new friend. Some of his favorite things were his truck, fishing and hunting, his buddy Hunter and hanging out in his "man shed".

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Cheryl Eichsteadt of Wautoma; children, Joshua Nigbor of Berlin, Amy Rice (Rosetta) of Appleton and Eric Eichsteadt (Mel) of Menasha; grandchildren, Avery Nigbor, Jazmon Rice and Landon Eichsteadt; siblings, Christine (Allen) Rebarchik; Russell (Deanna) Eichsteadt and Lenny Eichsteadt (Jose`); other relatives and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jennifer; granddaughter, Jessica and brother-in-law, Robert.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Crystal Lake on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 4:00 pm. A celebration of life will be held at Zinke's Mecan River Saloon in Dakota on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 5:00 pm.
