Robert William Bartel, age 94 of Wautoma passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Patriot Place, Berlin. He was born in Fond du Lac on August 13, 1930 to Alfred and Mary (Zipfel) Bartel. Robert worked at the Ford Garage as a mechanic until August 21, 1951 when he enlisted in the U.S. Army, served In the Korean War and was assigned to the Fifth Army Field Artillery Unit reaching the rank of SGT and was later Honorably discharged. On August 16, 1975 he married Lucille Bliske-Pomplun. Robert worked at Nelson Muffler for many years and also at Stelter Farms. He was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Redgranite and enjoyed playing cards, polka dancing, farming, operating heavy equipment and trucking. Robert will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Robert is survived by his children: Aaron (Dawn) Bartel, Sally (Ken) Elmer, Connie (Gary) Bartel, Christine (fiancé: Roger Williams) Henke, Karen (Larry) Timm; 16 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Mary Pomplun, Elizabeth Winkler; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Lucille Pomplun-Bartel; stepson: Gordon (June) Pomplun; sons-in-law: Dennis Steuck, Alan Henke and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Redgranite with burial to follow at Wautoma Union Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at church on Friday from 10AM until the time of services at 11AM.
