Richard Gold, age 74, of the Township of Colburn, rural Coloma, passed away New Years Day, January 1, 2011 at his residence. He was born August 26, 1936 in Bureau County, Illinois the son of Lee Robert and Viola Katherine (Swearingen) Gold. He married Shirley Dills on November 19, 1954 at Corinth, Mississippi. Dick resided in Bartonville, Illinois until moving to rural Coloma in 1966. He farmed in the Town of Colburn and Richfield, Adams County for many years until his retirement. He served as First Supervisor for the Town of Colburn for sometime. Dick enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Gold, Coloma; one son, James (Mary) Gold, Coloma; grandchildren, Jason Gold, Coloma, Samantha (Brad) Hixon, Shawano, Nicole (Brad) Patten, Arkdale, Sheena Trunk, Plover; great grandchildren, Tylor and Blake Patten, Brittany Gold, Faythe and Grace Hixon; two sisters, Sharon Edmonds, Indiana, Sandra (Doug) Buchman, Eau Claire; two brothers, Steve (Rose) Gold, Florida, Gary Gold, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Marilyn (Ray) Senter, Texas. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Lynn Gold on August 20, 1998; his parents, and by his in-laws, Samuel and Helen Dills. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield. Burial will be in Colburn/Leola Cemetery, Town of Colburn, Adams County. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
