Richard (Dick) JL Graf age 85 of Wautoma, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Juliette Manor in Berlin.
Dick was born June 25, 1938, in Milwaukee, WI to Louis and Margaret Graf. After high school, he joined the Army, until his return. In 1959 he married Mary Ann Simonis and they had 5 children while settling in Menomonee Falls. He opened many businesses including several Candy Man stores. In 1976 the family moved “up north” where Dick started Granny’s Goodies and other businesses including Graf’s Industries in Wautoma. His marriage ended in divorce. In 1994 he married Mary Beth Spars. Together they owned/operated many retail businesses including Graf’s Sweet Shop and Christmas Dreams, while enjoying their winters in the Florida Keys.
Dick always worked hard and enjoyed life. His big smile, interesting humor, and loud personality followed him wherever he went. His favorite saying was “Have a sunny day.” He traveled the world to almost every country, wrote several books including his lifelong autobiography, acted in many plays, and was never afraid to take a chance to start something new. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Dick leaves behind his wife Mary Beth Graf, his sons, Jim Graf, Hancock, Bill (Ranee) Graf, Wisconsin Rapids, Joe Graf, Hancock, Dan Graf, Appleton, & stepdaughter, Stefani (Jim) Tetzlaff, Redgranite. He is also survived by his brother Don Graf, West Bend, sister, Sandy (Hans) Bisswurm, Brookfield, 9 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Susan Graf, daughter in law, Kitt Graf, sister-in-law, Ann Graf
A celebration of life will be held at the Wautoma Senior Center on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 11:00am-2pm.
