Richard John "Dick" Bertzyk, age 83, of Wautoma, went to the Lord on January 2nd, 2014. He was born on May 3rd, 1930 in Browerville, MN to Vincent and Pauline (Kaas) Bertzyk. The family moved from Minnesota to Milwaukee in 1936. Dick and his brother Bob moved to Wautoma in 1946 to start their Ice Business. Dick married the love of his life Rita Seaman on July 21, 1962. Together they enjoyed their home in Wautoma for 51 years.
Dick had a very likable personality and a witty sense of humor. He loved woodworking and fishing. During his retirement he enjoyed "tinkering" on old lawn mowers. Dick was a man of few words, but when he spoke he shared his wit. Dick was employed by Rockwell International Axle Division of Oshkosh WI for 34 years. During his retirement he worked part time as Janitor for the Wautoma School District. Other places of employment were Chapman's of Berlin, WI and Speed Queen of Ripon, WI.
He is survived by his wife Rita; daughters Jean (Harvey) Knudtson, Lisa (Randall) Fritz , Theresa "Tracy" (Steven) Scharenbroch; sons Richard Allen Bertzyk, Joseph (Tammy) Bertzyk; grandchildren John (Marie) and Brian Knudson, Dennis Bertzyk, Travis and Cody Fritz, Corey and Rachel Bertzyk; great grandchildren Keith and Kassandra Knudtson; Alaina, Bryce and Aiden Knudtson; Elizabeth Bertzyk; brothers Donald (Kathy) Bertzyk and Vernon (Harriet) Bertzyk; brothers and sisters-in-law, Patricia Bertzyk; Mary Ann Bertzyk; Bernard (Nancy) Seaman; Barbara (David) Eagan; Nancy Seaman; Richard (Louise) Seaman; Rose Ann (Ronald) Roggow. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Preceded in death by his parents Vincent and Pauline; brothers Robert (Angie) Bertzyk, Harold Bertzyk and Lawrence Bertzyk Sr.; nephews Lawrence Bertzyk Jr. and Ricky Eagan; great grandson Brian; in-laws, Carl and Joanne Seaman along with Joanne's second husband, Alfred Smasal; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Seaman and Donald Seaman.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Redgranite. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
