Pastor Norman Richard Jole, 80, Wautoma, WI, died after a long illness at Berlin Hospital on Thursday, March 18, 2010. He was born in Oshkosh, WI on September 8, 1929, the son of Norman and Evelyn (Buboltz) Jole. Dick attended Oshkosh High School, Wartburg College, and Wartburg Serminary. During his ministry he served four churches: Faith Lutheran Church, Cuba City, Wi. (1954-1957), Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, Wi, (1957-1975), Central Lutheran Church, Edgerton, Wi. (1975-1985), and Hope Lutheran Church, Wautoma, Wi. (1985-1995). Dick retired from full-time ministry in 1995 but continued to guest preach and officiate at occasional weddings and funerals.
He is survived by his wife, Marian-Ann (Danielson), who he married in December 27, 1992; one son, David (Debby) Jole, Belvidere, Il; three daughters, Diane (Phil) Slocum, Wheaton, Il; Cris (Bill) Alrich, Wheaton, Il; and Cindy Gustin, Fullerton, CA. Stepchildren include Deana (Mike) Hirte, Daniel Potts, and Debra Potts. 15 grandchildren include Erik Aister, Megan (Jason) Slocum Rotter, Erin (Spencer) Jole Shanks, John Aister, Mark Slocum, Zachary Jole, Deanna Aister, Kelly Slocum, Gary Hirte, Matthew Gustin, Jenna Jole, Daniel Hirte, Jim Slocum, Andrea Gustin, and Randi Hirte.
Dick was preceded in death by first wife Delores "Jimmie" (German), Jole and second wife Lu (Nygaard) Jole.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 21, from 1-3:00 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, Wautoma, WI. A celebration of Dick's life will be held immediately following the visitation, with the Reverend Nate Gauerke officiating. A luncheon will be served at the church after the service.
