Raul Lopez, age 62, of Wild Rose passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 12, 2016 at his home.
He was born Feb. 22, 1954 in Cameron County, Texas, the son of Aurelio and Manuela (Zapata) Lopez.
Raul served his country in the United States Army as Squad Leader for a tank Battalion serving in Korea, Panama and Germany. He retired as Staff Sergeant after 20 years of service. Later, he was employed at Neenah Papers in Stevens Point. He was a very humble person with great conversation topics. A very cultural and intelligent person who loved to share his experience of worlds travels and military life with his friends. He loved to cook and listened to Jazz, Blues, oldies music with a passion. He loved to watch his movies with a big cup of great coffee.
Raul is survived by his siblings, Edwardo, Amelia, Virginia, Mary Sue, Mark, and Kristina. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by two dear brothers Edmundo, Ricardo and our beloved sister Mary and two uncles.
My brother was not religious by any particular denomination but he was spiritual and I prayed and asked that our Lord and savior Jesus Christ take him to his kingdom with our other family members and show him everlasting love, he is a child of God. My brother had a heart of gold and always a tender smile for all . We are all a better person because of him and our entire family will miss him dearly, we will see you again in our Lord's kingdom someday.
Per Raul's wishes, private family services will be held.
