Ralph Leon Schimelpfenig, age 76, of Wautoma passed away early Saturday morning, August 26, 2023 at his home.
Born on Memorial Day in 1947, the son of Marlin and Dorene (Goodwin) Schimelpfenig. His arrival into this world was marked by a historic late spring snowstorm.
Most of his adult life was spent living near Brownsville, WI where he raised his family. He was employed at Mercury Marine for over 40 years, only missing one day of work in all that time. Later, he moved back to Wautoma to the family farm he grew up on helping his aging parents.
Ralph enjoyed garage sales and auctions, working for a while for Yoder Auction House. He liked hunting, fishing and hiking the Ice Age Trails. Once as a young boy, he road his old bike many miles around the county selling newspaper subscriptions for the Waushara Argus and won himself a new bicycle which he was very proud of.
A fun-loving guy, he enjoyed a good joke, but he was also the one who would always give a helping hand. He was one the of the most generous and thoughtful persons you could ever know. Ralph made many friends near and far.
He will be sadly missed by his son, Randy Schimelpfenig, Wautoma; daughter, Julie Haeni, Fond du Lac; grandchildren, Brittany Haeni (Dan), Nick Malcolm (Kaitlyn) and Sam Malcolm (Taylor); great grandchildren, Koleton and Oakleigh; sisters, Marlene Mirr, Susan Loeffler and Donna Schimelpfenig; brother, Steven Schimelpfenig. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, Mick.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Wautoma Union Cemetery. The Leikness Funeral Home of Wautoma is assisting the family with arrangements. www.leiknessfuneralhome.com
