"Purple Rose", a.k.a. Rosemary E. (nee Tyler) Krall went home to God on Friday, July 30, 2010 after courageously fighting cancer for 9 ½ years. She was the personification of love and fun and managed to retain her keen sense of humor until the very end. Our hearts are broken, but we are also filled with gratitude that she is no longer in pain. And we all are better individuals for having known and loved her!
"Purple Rose" was born on July 4, 1937 to Charles and Irene (Grno) Tyler. She attended St. Catherine's High School and graduated in 1955. She married Raymond G. Krall on December 12, 1969 and they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this past December. Rose and Ray were "always together" (aside from her annual trip to Branson with her friends) and hand-built their 'dream-come-true' log cabin (with some help from their daughters!)
The initial chapters of her life story were spent in Racine, WI. After completion of high school, she worked in various job positions including Young Radiator and medical offices. She discovered her true passion at Racine Unified working with special needs children. She spent 30 years assisting with their educational needs, teaching sign language and simply loving "her kids"- and they all loved her! Rose and Ray had many close friends in Racine and enjoyed socializing with them. During this time she also became "Grandma Purple" to the four 'loves of her life'; her grandchildren Tara, Trent, Casey and Brenna. She was the best Grandma and Mom ever and had a very special relationship with each one of us.
After retiring to Hancock for the remaining chapters of her life, she was very involved with her church, choir, religious education and vacation bible school. She always loved teaching, singing, signing and kids! She thoroughly enjoyed her 'Red Hat' society outings and planned all year for her annual Branson trip. She had 9 years of laughter and fun with her best friend/ '2nd sister' Sharon and close friends Ramona and Marie. Life was always lived to the fullest and every day was an adventure with "Purple Rose".
Grandma and Grandpa Purple traveled frequently back to Racine to celebrate birthdays, holidays and joyous occasions with their daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, extended family and close friends. "Getaway Weekends" always included their grandchildren and swimming! Frequent vacations at the cabin with Grandma and Grandpa Purple created so many wonderful memories for all of us.
The past 1 ½ years have been filled with many health issues and an incredible amount of support from dear friends and relatives. We are eternally grateful for every kindness shown.
"Purple Rose" is survived by her husband Ray; her Mom, Irene Tyler; daughters Deb (nee Toth) and Alan Niesen and Robin (nee Toth) and Gerard Lakatos; her loving grandchildren Tara (fiancé Cody Aston) and Trent Niesen and Casey and Brenna Lakatos; her sister Janet (Jim) Doonan, her brother Charles Tyler; sisters-in-law Winnie Gornik, Monica (John) Dolinich, Jenny (Scott) Kent and Vilma Allen; brother-in-law Sheldon (Marlene) Krall; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her Dad, Charles Tyler, mother-in-law Mollie Krall, father-in-law George Krall, mother-in-law Gladys Kugel, fathers-in-law, Ralph Toth and Karl Kugel, her aunt Emily Kersten her uncle Frank Kersten, sister-in-law Gina "Red" Krall, brothers-in-law George Krall, Jack Gornik, and John Allen.

Our unending appreciation for your compassion, care, teaching and love to Karen, RN, Carol, Doris, Joann, Amber and Ashley. And especially... a big hug and all of our love and gratitude to our Dad for taking such excellent care of Mom- you were the best 'nurse' and cook and 'laundry guy' (with endless patience)... all while dealing with your own health issues...
