Phyllis Young

Phyllis J. Young, age 77, of Wautoma, passed away Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Columbia St. Mary's Ozaukee Hospital in Mequon. She was born Feb. 9, 1932 in Wautoma, the daughter of Silas G. and Hazel A. (Winge) Wilcox. She married Russell L. "Doc" Young on Feb. 11, 1956 in Wautoma. He preceded her in death on August 7, 1989. Phyllis was a 1950 graduate of Wautoma High School. She was a
faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church where she served on many church committees. Phyllis belonged to the United Methodist Women where she received the Special Mission Recognition Award from the Wisconsin Conference in 2005. She will be fondly remembered for organizing monthly devotionals at Heartland House and at the former Wautoma Care Center. Phyllis also belonged to the Good Morning Circle, sang in the church choir, served on the City of Wautoma Elections Board and drove for Waushara County Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Wautoma Chapter 148 Order of the Eastern Star. Phyllis will be deeply missed by her family and many dear friends. She is survived by one son, Eric Young, Minneapolis, MN.; one daughter, Shelly (Joseph) Bourassa, Brown Deer; her brother-in-law, Gordon J. "Jerry" Mueller, Land O'Lakes. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and by her beloved sister, Daisy Mueller. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Grace United Methodist Church with Pastor George J. Kafer and Pastor Grace Imathiu co-officiating. Burial will be in Wautoma Union Cemetery.Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma and at the Church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. An Order of the Eastern Star service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A Memorial has been established.
