Phyllis M. Peterson, age 88, of Wautoma, passed away Thursday evening, January 7, 2010, at Heartland House in Wautoma. She died knowing that she will enjoy eternity with her Lord and Savior.
She was born February 26, 1921 in Amery, Wisconsin, the daughter of
M. Ross and Hazel B. (Morse) DeGolier. She married Clarence H. Peterson
on September 18, 1943. He preceded her in death by January 5, 1992.
Phyllis was a graduate of Wild Rose High School and UW-Stevens Point. She taught at numerous country schools in Waushara County. Later, she taught Junior High School at Dafoe School in Wautoma until her retirement.
She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Wolman-Minskey American Legion Auxiliary, and the Retired Teachers Association. Phyllis sang in the church choir, belonged to the Waushara Historical Society and served as Election Clerk for the City of Wautoma.
She is survived by three children, David R. (Dawn) Peterson, Wautoma,
Roger A. (Virginia) Peterson, Naples, Florida, Lynda (Tom) Sieg. Redgranite; 10 grandchildren, Christopher (Anne) Peterson, David D. (Beth) Peterson, Tom (fiancee, Patti) Peterson, Dylan Besk, Michelle (Greg) Schroeder, Tiana Peterson, Ross (Karleen) Peterson, Ryan Peterson,
Tricia Sieg, Julie Roehl; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Joyce (Donald) Davis, Logan, Utah; three sisters-
in-law, Donna DeGolier, Austin, MN., Florence DeGolier, Canyonville, Oregon, and Lorraine (Donald) Pagel, Dallas, Texas; one brother-in-law,
Scott (Vivian) Peterson, Great Falls, Montana. She is further survived by
nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents;
two grandchildren, Mark Peterson and DaNita Battles; and by two brothers,
Maynard DeGolier and Myron DeGolier.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Grace United Methodist Church in Wautoma with the Rev. Sue Bryce officiating. Private burial will be at Wautoma Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12 Noon until 3:00 p.m. at Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma and at the Church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being
established.
