Orrie Lee Thomas, age 83, of Wautoma, WI, formerly of Sioux Falls, South Dakota passed away peacefully from Alzheimer's on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Arbor Pines Assisted Living in Wautoma. He was born January 23, 1928 in Milbank, South Dakota, the son of James Monroe and Hilda (Dietrich) Thomas. He married Darlene F. Jorgensen on February 1, 1948, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Orrie attended school in Milbank and later in Sioux Falls. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1945 until receiving a medical discharge in 1947. He and his wife operated Thomas Distributing, Inc. in Sioux Falls for 26 years. They moved to Wisconsin on November 11, 2010. Mr. Thomas was a life member and past president of the Seratoma Noon Club of Sioux Falls. He was also a life member of the DAV, Seratoma International and Sioux Falls VFW. Orrie was a charter member of the Westward Ho Country Club and a faithful member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He was the first in Sioux Falls to bowl a 300 game and was an avid golfer getting 2 Holes in One playing the game he truly enjoyed. Survivors include his wife, Darlene F. Thomas; two children, Teri (Mike) Mahaffey, Wautoma and Thomas (Cindy) Thomas, Canton, SD; four grand- children, Michelle Wittenberg, Kristine Ferris, Jeremy (Kelli) Thomas, and Joshua (Carry) Thomas; three great grandchildren, Tyler, Nicholas and Mya. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lester, Howard and Henry; one sister, Edna Tuttle. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 524 W. 13th St., Sioux Falls with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
