Muriel E. Cummings, age 88, of Bancroft, called home Tuesday evening, January 29, 2013 at St. Michael Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born March 9, 1924 in Jefferson, Wisconsin the daughter of Paul and Eleanor (Scheckelman) Halpin. She married Duane Cummings on April 25, 1942. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2008.
Mrs. Cummings farmed for 60 years with her husband. She also worked at American Potato for seventeen years.
She is survived by her children, Douglas (Bonnie) Cummings, Hancock, Mike Cummings, Bancroft, Terry Callahan, Plainfield, Frances Hubbard, Stevens Point, William (Mary) Cummings, Bancroft and James (Yvonne) Cummings, Bancroft; 20 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren;her sister, Mildred Humphrey; sister-in-law, Betty Halpin; other relatives and many special friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Todd and three brothers, Art, Gene and Jerry; a daugher-in-law, Gladys Cummings and sons-in-law, Jerry Callahan and Tom Hubard.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Plainfield. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. Friday until the time of services at the church. Inurnment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Town of Pine Grove, Portage County.
