Miguel Martinez

Mike Martinez, age 67 of Wautoma, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Laredo, TX. He lived with Marlin and Dorene Schimelpfenig and his family for many years. Mike had a liver transplant on November 14, 2004, but then was diagnosed with lung cancer on March 24, 2010. He loved people and enjoyed nature, gardening, and growing watermelons for his grandchildren. They truly loved their "Grampy". Mike worked in Christmas Tree Production and also at the Atrium.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Suzanne (Brown) Martinez, two daughters, Heidi (Carlos) Gonzalez and Reva Martinez, five grandchildren, Thalia Gonzalez, Victoria Gonzalez, Olivia Arreola, Karlie Cruz, and Julian Martinez. He loved all of his grandchildren but he was especially fond of his only grandson Julien. He was preceded in death by one son, Mike Marlin Martinez from a previous marriage. Cremation has taken place.
The family invites other relatives and friends to come and celebrate his life and share memories. The memorial service will be held at the World War II Building in Wautoma on Monday, May 24, 2010 from 6pm until 8pm. Mike will be sadly missed by all who knew him and loved him. May God be with him as he enters into eternal life.
