Michael John "Mike" Primising, age 79, of Wautoma, died peacefully, Wednesday morning, August 1, 2012, at his home. He was born September 1, 1932 in Melvin, Iowa the son of Charles and Hetty (Matern) Primising. He married Carolee A. Klever on July 19, 1958 in Ames, Iowa. Michael graduated from Melvin High School, and attended Iowa State College earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology specializing in Fishery Biology and Management. He served with the Armed forces from 1953 until 1955. While in college, he worked part time for the State of Iowa Conservation Department. Following graduation he began a 30 year career with the Wisconsin Conservation Department (DNR). Mike did fisheries work on lakes and streams in the counties of Waushara, Waupaca, Portage, Marquette, and Green Lake. He worked with both town and county government officials in cost sharing along with the purchase and development of public access and boat landing sites on many lakes. He worked with other fisheries specialists determining the life history of the Winnebago system Lake Sturgeon. Mike's field work is featured in the book titled "People of the Sturgeon". He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wautoma where he taught religious education for many years. He always lent a helping hand for many church functions and activities. Anyone who knew Mike will remember him for his well used sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolee Primising, Wautoma; one son, Patrick (Christine) Primising, Fond du Lac; two grandchildren, Megan Primising and John Primising; one sister, Mary Ann Walsh, Walnut Grove, CA; two sisters-in-law, Marrie Lou Jochums, Carmillo, CA, and Ruth (Jim) Nanno, Sanborn, Iowa. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Steven , and by one sister, Cecelia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wautoma with the Rev. Robert L. Stegmann officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Wautoma. Visitation will be held at the Church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Winnebagoland Musky Club scholarship fund.
