Michael J. Clendenning, 70, of Plainfield, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at Appleton Medical Center from his battle with congestive heart failure with his loving family by his side.
He was born April 11, 1939 in West Allis the son of Wesley and Marie (Fitzpatrick) Clendenning. He married Caroline E. Wegner on November 5, 1960 in Waukegan, Illinois.
Mike was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and of the Sacred Hearts Knights of Columbus in Plainfield. He enjoyed his family, woodworking, the outdoors especially four-wheeling in Michigan. He will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family and grandchildren. Although he faced many challenges in life, he always had a fun-loving attitude and a smile on his face. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mike was employed at Master Lock in Milwaukee before moving to Plainfield in 1966. He later worked for Jay Mar of Plover, retiring in 2002.
Mike leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Caroline E. Clendenning, Plainfield; three daughters, Linda (Paul) Zakowski, Sherwood, Debbie Clendenning, Menasha, Lisa (Shawn) Vistain, Sherwood; six grandchildren, Zachary, Ryleigh, Lindsey and Mycenzie Zakowski, Camden and Corey Vistain; three brothers, James (Pat) Clendenning, Nekoosa, William Clendenning, Wisconsin Rapids, Thomas (Linda) Clendenning, Plainfield; three sisters, Donna (Les) Rivers, Plainfield, Helen Nagorski, Oconomowoc, Barbara (Jerry) Polakowski, Darboy; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Patrick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 4, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Plainfield with the Rev. Paul Lippert officiating. Burial will be in the Oasis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home, Plainfield and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. A memorial has been established.
