Merle E. Barr passed away peacefully to be with her Lord Wednesday, November 30, 2011. Merle was born July 9, 1917 in Milwaukee to Henry and Ellen Haefele. Merle was united in marriage to James T. Barr in Milwaukee on May 19, 1940 and were married for 51 years until he preceded her in death on October 10, 1991.
Merle was a wonderful mother and grandmother whom her grandchildren adored. She was a great cook who loved cooking for her family, playing bridge and going to church faithfully every Sunday.
She is survived by her daughter Kristin Pyles of Wautoma and son Dennis (Kay) Barr of Wild Rose; grandchildren Lisa (Doug) Christie, Wild Rose; Kristin Degnan, Toledo, OH; Sarah (Jeremy) Compton, Waupaca; Brittany, Talia and Kaden Saarinen-Barr, Wild Rose; great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Logan, Connor, Sydney, Ian and Evan. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son James Daniel Barr and her brothers Daniel and James Haefele.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 11:00am at in Hope Lutheran Church, Wautoma. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Hancock Village Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00am until the time of services at the Church.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, Olson Hall 3 for all the love and care they've given to the "Mighty Quinn".
