Marliss Hensel

Marliss L. Hensel, age 73, of Wautoma, died peacefully Saturday, May 31, 2014, at her home. She was born March 31, 1941 in Hustisford, the daughter of Hilbert and LaVerne (Lange) Graunke. She married Otto H. Hensel Jr. on July 30, 1960 in
Hustisford. Marliss was a graduate of Hustisford High School. She and her husband resided in Hustisford before moving to Wautoma in 1962. Marliss served as Head Librarian at the Wautoma Public Library from 1978 until her retirement in 1999. She enjoyed reading for story hour for local daycare and schools. She loved antiques, glassware, reading, and her doll collection. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake. Marliss was general leader for the Roadrunners 4-H group, a Sunday School Teacher, and a volunteer at County Cupboard and the Museum in Wautoma. She is survived by her husband, Otto Hensel, Wautoma; two daughters, Heidi (Larry) Buntrock, Wautoma, Holly (Rick) Putskey, Wautoma; three grandchildren, Brent (Melissa) Putskey, Wautoma, Collin (Barbie) Putskey, Wautoma, Phil Putskey, Wautoma; her great granddaughter, Kylie Putskey; two sisters, Val (Ron) Magyar, Hustisford, Luann Neice, Walton, NY; her sister-in-law, Carol (the late, Otis) Hensel; her special friend and caregiver, Mamie Hall, Wautoma. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Marliss was preceded in death by her grandson, Richard Putskey; her parents, and by one brother, Jay Graunke. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake, County Road Y and Deerborn Ave. with Rev. Blaine O. Niskanen officiating. Burial will be in Woodville Cemetery, Township of Deerfield. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma and on Thursday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. A Prayer Service will be recited at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established for the Wautoma Public Library.
