Marlin Pomplun

December 6, 1932 — August 20, 2012

Marlin J. Pomplun, age 79, of Richford, died Monday afternoon, August 20, 2012 as the result of an accident in the town of Richford. He was born December 6, 1932 in the town of Richford, the son of Avolt and Alma (Bohn) Pomplun. He married Delphine D. Weiland on January 7, 1956 in Richford. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2001. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Marlin farmed in the town of Richford for over 20 years. Later, he was employed at the Waushara County Highway Department for many years until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Richford. Marlin always had a smile on his face and a hand to help anyone who needed it. He loved to fish, go to the casino and travel with his family. He is survived by three children, Greg (Jody) Pomplun, Richford, Douglas Pomplun, Richford, Sara (Mike) Henke, Oshkosh; four grandchildren, Thomas Pomplun (Shannon Evans), Tiffany (Dave) Roberts, Dane Munsch, and Logan Henke; two great grandsons, Gage Roberts and Brayden Pomplun; two brothers, Eldon (Patsy) Pomplun, Carl Pomplun; sisters-in-law, Wilma Pomplun, Eunice Pomplun, Carolyn Pomplun, Sharon (William) Becker; brothers-in-law, Harold Fritz, Robert Ellis, Frank (Judi) Weiland, Jerry Weiland (Linda Martin); a special niece and travel companion, Kathy Meyer. Marlin is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews,
other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Henry, Herbert, Arnold, Elmer, Gilbert, and Martin Pomplun; three sisters, Irma Pomplun Vi Ellis, and Loretta Fritz. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.
at the Richford Community Center with Rev. Blaine O. Niskanen officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at the Richford Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the Richford Community Center.
