Mabel Marshall

Mabel I. Marshall, age 94, formerly of Hancock, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Heartland House in Wautoma.

She was born May 28, 1917 in the town of Richfield, Adams County, the daughter of the late Arthur and Maud (Burroughs) Pells. She married Clifford Marshall on May 29, 1943. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1995.

Mabel received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Ripon College. Mrs. Marshall taught school at the Hancock High School and later became the librarian at Tri-County Schools. Mabel resided for over 50 years on the family farm in rural Hancock. She was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Hancock and served as clerk for the North Deerfield Cemetery.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Marie Marshall, Rockford; her niece, Cecilia Carlton, Hancock; her nephew, Jerry Carlton, Hancock, brother-in-law, Russell (Charlotte) Marshall, Hancock; other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, Joseph K. Bright; sister, Winifred Carlton.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the United Church of Christ in Hancock with the Rev. Yul Kwon officiating. Burial will be in the North Deerfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home, Plainfield and from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
