Louis John Spata, 85, Wild Rose, passed away on December 5, 2014 in Wild Rose. Louis was born in Chicago, IL, son of Anthony and Julia Spata (nee Bernacchi). He was a combat veteran of the Korean War and seved in the US Amry 223rd Infantry Regiment, 40th Division. Louis was awarded two bronze stars. He loved music and was self-taught on the piano. He enjoyed opera, country, and western. His hobbies included fishing and hunting. He retired from Acme Freight Company.
Survivors include sisters: Fannie Rheingans, Esther Whitlock; sister in-law: Diane Spata; and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends in Chicago, IL and Wisconsin. Louis was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Joseph Spata, Victor Spata, and Nicholas Spata; brothers in-laws: Arthur Rheingans, Raymond Whitlock; sisters in-laws: Rose Spata and Faye Spata; and special friend: Shirley Schmudlach, Hancock/Wild Rose.
Internment will be at Queen of Haven Cemetery in Hillside, IL. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Leikness Funeral Home, Wautoma, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Donations in Louis's honor can be sent to Hospice, Wild Rose Lioness Club, and the Hancock Senior Food Center.
