Lester H. Zeatlow, age 88, of Wautoma, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, March 6, 2012, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. He was born October 13, 1923 in Brandon, the son of Richard and Esther (Smith) Zeatlow. He married the former Margaret F. Williams on July 24, 1948 in the Township of Dakota. She preceded him in death on November 6, 2009. Lester served his country in the Army. He retired from the Waushara County Highway Department where he worked as a heavy equipment operator from 1956 until 1986. After retirement he worked for the city of Wautoma, Big Squirt Car Wash, and The Eagan Agency. He belonged to the Waushara Fair Association and Habitat for Humanity. Lester was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he also served as Trustee, usher and custodian. He belonged to Maple Grove Cemetery Board of Directors, served as school crossing guard, did painting, lawn mowing, and was a jack of all trades. He built three homes which he lived in. He enjoyed camping and square dancing. He will be remembered most for his love of gardening and fishing. He is survived by two daughters, Louise (David) Scheelk and Barbara Zeatlow, both of Appleton; two grandsons, Matthew (Heather) Scheelk, Andrew Keller, Appleton; two granddaughters, Rae (Marc) Scherschel, Appleton, Jill Keller, Menasha; two great-grandsons, Alexander Scherschel, Appleton, Blake Gerard, Kaukana; two great-granddaughters, Jordan Welch, Menasha, Anya Scherschel, Appleton; two brothers, Charles (Mandy) Zeatlow, Montello, David Zeatlow, Beaver Dam; three sisters, Evelyn Krinkey, Mae Poetter, both of Beaver Dam, Grace Yapp, Packwaukee. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Edward, Arthur, Lawrence, Donald, John, and Robert; two sisters, Edna Poetter, Mary Missall. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Wautoma with Rev. George J. Kafer officiating. Inurnment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Township of Dakota. Relatives and friends may greet the family at the Church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
