Leonard E. Sittig, age 90, of Wautoma, WI passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14th, 2015 at Heartland House in Wautoma. He was born January 25th, 1924 in Sturtevant, WI to Albert and Agness (nee Sietz) Sittig. He married Rose Margaret Hansen on October 10th, 1949 in Racine, WI, and they raised 3 sons, Robert, James, and Donald (deceased). A graduate of Racine Park High School, he joined the U.S. Army to fight for his country in Europe. After returning home from the war, he worked for his father-in-law at Fairlawn Grocery in Racine. He ended his working career at Western Printing in 1985. After his wife passed away, he moved to Wautoma with Bob and Luann. Living on Big Silver Lake was enjoyable for him. He liked to fish, and made many trips up to Lake Chippewa Campground in Hayward, WI. A life-long love of the outdoors and animals was fueled by many summers fishing and visiting with other campers and their dogs. In the winter, he loved to read nature books and bird-watch. He moved to Heartland House in May 2013 where he enjoyed visiting with friends, especially Josiah.
Leonard is survived by his sons Bob Sittig (Luann) of Wautoma and Jim Sittig (Julie) of Racine, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and many other family members.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17th, 2015 at Peace Lutheran Church in Wautoma, with the Rev. Roger Riedel officiating. Visitation begins at 10:00am, with the service, including military honors, following at 11:00am.
