Leon Holden

December 16, 1941 — February 15, 2010

Leon Fay Holden, age 68, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully at home on February 15, 2010 with his wife Nancy and family by his side. Leon was born December 16, 1941 in the Township of Saratoga, the youngest child of Herbert L. and Agnes A. (Beyers) Holden.Leon had a great love for his family, as well as a passion for many sports including one of his favorite being downhill skiing out west. He also enjoyed golf and fishing in the state of Tennessee with is nephew Jim.His occupation in life always included semi trucks in one way or another.
Whether it was driving over the road or owning several. He established J&L Transport, Almond, WI. from 1972 until 1986. He then established and ran Leon's Truck & Trailer Repair, Plainfield, WI. From October 1986 until his retirement in July 2004. At which time the couple moved to Inverness, FL. where they owned a home. Due to health issues not only his own, but of dear family members they returned to Plainfield in May 2006. Leon will always be remembered as one of the best diesel mechanics in the area. His motto: "It's Not Who's Bigger. It's Who's Better". He was a sponsor of Ducks Unlimited, and a member of the VFW Men's Auxiliary Post 7122, Floral City, FL. and the Eagles Arie 3992, Inverness, FL. He is survived by his wife, Nancy along with four children, Paula (Greg) Sumpter, Cedar, MN., Bill (Jen) Holden, Burnsville, MN., Julie (Patrick) Goodwin, Anchorage, AK., Kim VanderKooi (Ben Krueger), Appleton.
He is further survived by his daughter-in-law, Jane Holden (widow of his
son Mike whom passed away February 2009); 10 grandchildren, Melani(Steve), Felicia (special friend Dan), Megan, Ashley, Natasha, Ariel, Raul, Emma, Brayden, and Paige. Due are two more grandchildren and the first great-grandchild to be born in 2010. two sisters Francis Ostrum, Wisconsin Rapids, and Donna (Don) Challoner, Hayden, ID.; two brothers, Melvin (Nancy) Holden, San Francisco, CA., Dewey (Donna) Holden, Wisconsin Rapids. Along with many other family and numerous friends. Loyal lap dog companions Sophie and Sally. He was preceded in death by his son, Mike; one brother, John, his parents and an infant sister. Also, his in-laws, Helen and Edward Hartman, brothers-
in-law, Eugene (Zeke) Hartman and Donald Glaske Sr. Along with his shop
dog, Monty. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield. Burial will be in the Plainfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral Home. If desired, memorials to the family would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
