Kenneth C. Schwersenska, age 79, of rural Hancock, passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at UW-Hospital in Madison. He was born July 17, 1935 in the Township of Newton, Marquette County, the son of Clarence C. and Viola E. (Berry) Schwersenska. He married Ardell L. Radtke on Dec. 15, 1956 in Princeton. Kenneth served his country in the United States Army. Later, he farmed in the Town of Deerfield and moved buildings with his father. He drove truck for Strey Construction of Oshkosh for 10 years and was a truck driver for Star Asphalt and Kelley Sand & Gravel of Wautoma for 20 years. He retired in 1997 and then worked for his son at L&S Heating. Kenneth started playing polka music with his mother before joining the Dick Putskey Band and then the Vic Bartel Band. He enjoyed working in his garage and making his lawn look perfect. Kenneth loved doing things for his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Wautoma. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ardell L. Schwersenska, Hancock; three children, Barbara Siebert (David Groskreutz) Wautoma, Lyle Schwersenska, Coloma, Laurie (Ken) Schmidt, Wautoma; four grandchildren, Grant Schwersenska, Baraboo, Nicole Schwersenska, Montello, Jason (Michelle) Siebert, Wautoma, Michael Schmidt, Wautoma; one great granddaughter, Miranda Siebert; one sister, Louise (Ken) Hillmer, Montello; two brothers, Gordon Schwersenska, Coloma, John (Sharon) Schwersenska, Oshkosh; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Reuben (Alice) Nighbor, Princeton, LeRoy Nighbor, Neshkoro, Phebion Nighbor, Hustisford, Alice Nighbor, Cambria, JoAnn Schliepp, Brookfield, Darlene (Jerry) Hunter, Dalton, Dianna (Wayne) Martin, Las Vegas, NV, Iris (Jerry) Deuel, Las Vegas, NV. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Leo and Elsie Radtke; sisters-in-law, Sally Schwersenska, Delores (Ray) Kuharske, Beverly Nighbor; and by his brother-in-law, Lawrence Nighbor. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Wautoma with the Rev. Roger Riedel officiating. Burial will be in Woodville Cemetery, Township of Deerfield.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma and on Friday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
