Kathy “Dear, Ma, Grandma,” Pennau left to dance with Jesus on August 12th 2023. She was born on Jan 4th, 1948 to William & Frances Hughes in Oshkosh. As a girl she attended school in the Oshkosh area school district graduating high school in 1966. She married Steven Pennau on January 18th, 1968 and they stayed faithfully at the other's side until her passing. Throughout their life together Steve and Kathy fostered 12 children. Kathy had many passions, one of which was The Shepherd's Cottage Christian book store which she owned and operated for many years, with Nancy Vistain. The ladies collaborated to create the Rural Christian Women's Conference. The conference started as a small group of Christian women and turned into over a thousand women coming together to share their love of the Lord. The conference continued for 29 years.
Kathy loved to love, and she was exceptionally great at it. Her caring heart touched countless others throughout her life. She always offered unconditional forgiveness and never turned anyone in need away. She enjoyed many things; great conversations, spending time with loved ones, her Packers, and sharing her faith and relationship with Christ with anyone she encountered. She was strong, witty and her bright personality often left the sun jealous. There are not enough words to describe Kathy and the impact she made on her family and the community. She really was a woman of many titles, but her favorite was Grandma. She loved and forgave unconditionally. Anyone whose life was touched by Kathy was irrevocably changed, and for the better. There are rare instances when a light like Kathy comes into this world and although it has felt fleeting her impact, values, and love will be felt forever. She will forever live on in all of our hearts.
