Katherine Simanovsky, age 96, of Wautoma, was called home Friday, August 7, 2020
She was born July 18, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Michael and Helen (Machovsky) Potocny. She married Anton F. Simanovsky on April 22, 1943 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 1979.
Katherine graduated in 1937 from Spry Elementary School and in 1941 from Harrison High School both in Chicago. She was employed as Librarian at J. Sterling Morton High School in Cicero, IL as well as Morton College for many years. She resided in Cicero prior to moving to Wautoma in 2005. She loved reading and crocheting as well as being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Katherine was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Wautoma, the American Legion Auxiliary of Wautoma and Cicero. She was a longtime member of the Brookfield Zoo Association of Brookfield, IL. She served as volunteer for the MacNeal Hospital Emergency Room in Berwyn, IL. She also was very active with the Waushara Area Chamber of Commerce Business After 5 and assisted the Waushara County Department of Aging with the Loose Ends newsletter.
She is survived by two sons, Kirk (Linda) Simanovsky, Washburn, WI, Wayne Simanovsky, Illinois; one daughter, Deborah (Ken) Janice, Illinois; her daughter-in-law, Millie Anne McComb, Wautoma; one sister, Irene Pappalardo, Illinois. She is further survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, other relatives and many dear friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Daniel W. McComb on Jan. 1, 2015, and by her parents.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Wautoma. Private family funeral services will follow with Rev. P. Michael Thomas officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Woodlawn Cemetery, Forest Park, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hope Lutheran Church are greatly appreciated.
