June C. Wilson

June 26, 1959 — January 26, 2025

Wautoma

With her love of Wild Rose, and its students and community, June Carol Wilson passed into the arms of God on Sunday, January 26, 2025. She was born in Wild Rose, Wisconsin, in 1959, the daughter of Ellis and Claire Wilson and graduated from Wild Rose High School and UW-Stevens Point. Growing up in Wild Rose provided her with a love and loyalty to the community and especially-Wildcat sports and its athletes. Attending Stevens Point, in addition to a degree, gave her the love of Belt's ice cream. She never missed their annual spring opening day and always offered to take others along. She was a correspondent for the Waushara Argus for over 30 years, covering the children, parents and in some cases, the grandparents of Wild Rose athletes. As her previous editor, Mary Kunasch commented; "she put her whole heart into the stories she wrote." Her passion for the farm, wildlife, flowers and stray cats was evident throughout her life. Even to the point of taking pictures of a bear cub that wandered into the yard, oblivious to the fact while she was watching the cub- momma bear was watching her.

June was the epitome of the bird lady. She knew each species by name and talked to them while filling the feeders in the yard. I'm sure they understood and probably, engaged her in conversation. She never failed to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries or Christmas with her family, the many nieces and nephews and their children, always sending cards to each of them whenever the occasion arose. A distant cousin who lives in California received her birthday card, the day June passed away.

The Wildcats, Packers and Brewers where her favorite teams. She had a ritual for every Packer game; sweatshirt, icons and the ever-present cheese brick, that was thrown at the TV from time to time. What you saw was what you got with June. Loyal, passionate, with just a slight stubborn streak.....that showed from time to time.

She is survived by her three brothers and a sister; Lawrence (Susan), Peter, John (Heather) and Connie Wilson, her many nieces and nephews and their children, along with all the friends and people whose lives she touched over the years. She will be missed.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Monday, February 3, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at church on Monday from 10AM until the time of Mass at 11AM.
