Joslyn Carrier

December 26, 1943 — September 26, 2021

Joslyn Anne Carrier, age 77, 0f Wautoma, passed away Sunday morning, September 26, 2021 at Theda Care Medical Center in Appleton.

She was born December 31 1943 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Joseph and Louise (Tatkus) Trentacosti. She was married to Joseph P. Knyakal Sr. and later married John Carrier on December 27, 1981. He preceded her in death on December 16, 2001.

Joslyn went to Catholic school until the fifth grade and then transferred to public school for the remainder of her education. She received her GED in 1960. She continued on to become a beautician and then on to work as a secretary for Dr. Pascal at St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island, IL. She moved to Wisconsin in the year 2000. She continued to work in health care until her retirement. She loved working outdoors in her garden among her two-footed and four-footed friends. Joslyn volunteered for our local Lost Companion Chapter, Food Pantry, the Waushara Historical Society and the Neshkoro Community Center. She would help anyone in need and reprimand anyone when necessary.  She was an excellent mentor in teaching people to stand up for themselves and what they believe in. But always, animals came first.

She attended Waushara Community Church for many years. She was a very spiritual person in many ways, and enjoyed learning about and exploring the American Native and Egyptian cultures.

One of her last posts on her social media page was, “This covid pneumonia is a horrible and scary thing to go through. I can honestly say I’m sorry I didn’t get vaccinated. I hope all of you do.”

Joslyn Anne Carrier was a force that needed to be reckoned with and admired at the same time.

Joslyn is survived by two children: Roslyn (William) Phillips, Wautoma and Joseph (Ann Truwe) Knyakal Jr., Poynette; three grandchildren, Michael Phillips (Amber Schoeller), Scott (Brandi) Phillips, and Alex Knyakal; five great grandchildren, Dylan, Ariana, Gabriel, Cameron and Riley; one sister, Celine Pitzen, Wautoma. She is further survived by nieces, other relatives and friends, especially, Joseph Gedmin of Wautoma.

In addition to her husband, John Carrier, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Joseph P. Knyakal Sr.
