Joseph A. Gedmin, of Wautoma, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023 after a long battle with COPD.
He was born January 8, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Anna (Bahno) Gedmin. In his early years, Joe worked as a mechanic for his uncle at D&D Service in Chicago. He served his country in the Navy and later the Army. Joe and his family moved from Chicago to Wautoma where he enjoyed being active in community events and outdoor activities. Some of his favorite activities included being a snowmobile trail groomer, trapping, hunting, fishing and hunting for mushrooms. He was also proud to serve as Constable for the Town of Dakota. He will be remembered for helping the community around him when needed. Joe also had a great passion for cooking for family and friends. It didn’t matter if it was at their Drive-In, La Casa De Guiseppe or at his home any hour of the day.
He is survived by three children, Pamela (Tim) Schmude, Jill Williams, and Beth (Chris) Sabatino. He was preceded in death by his son, James Joseph “JJ”. He is further survived by many grandchildren: David Davies, Laura Lehman, Kalinda Rabe, Kazimer Notario, Kai Notario, Sarah Hanson, Val Williams, Tom Williams, and Great Grandchildren; one brother, Jim (Noreen) Gedmin; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Joe will be held at a later date. The Leikness Funeral Home Wautoma is assisting the family with arrangements. www.leiknessfuneralhome.com
