John Martin Wedell

John Martin Wedell, age 77, of Wautoma, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born in Wild Rose on December 14, 1945, to Martin and Marian (Bray) Wedell. John married Elaine Walter on June 29, 1968, at Hope Lutheran Church, Wautoma. He enlisted in the Wisconsin Army National Guard during the Vietnam Era and was honorably discharged. John worked for the Waushara County Highway Department for 31 years and retired as a superintendent. For many years, he loved working on the family farm. John enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, landscaping, going to the casino, and gathering with family and friends at Lakeshore Restaurant. John spent the final weeks of his life surrounded by people he loved and will be deeply missed by those lucky enough to know and love him. 

John is survived by his wife, Elaine Wedell; children: John (Gracie) Wedell, Christopher (Jessica) Wedell, and Michael (Debra) Wedell; grandchildren: Melissa, Katrina, Cynthia, Elisha, Brett, Sedona, Casimiro, Kiara; 16 great-grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; sisters: Betty Bahn, Elaine (Gordon) Shruck; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather William Gomoll, four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, followed by Military Honors. The Family will greet relatives and friends at church on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of services at 11 AM. Private burial will take place in (North) Dakota Cemetery.
