John M. Sanchez, 57, of Wautoma passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 25, 2022 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved son of the late Leon Jr. and late Gloria (Muñoz) Sanchez, John was born March 30, 1965 in Cuero, Texas.
John graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids. He was semi-retired and previously worked at McCain Foods for several years, as well as a local cannery, construction, manufacturing and later at a potato packaging farm. John cared for his mother after leaving McCain’s when she became ill. John’s faith and love of family and friends were important. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed cooking, canning, barbequing, gardening, crafts, watching action shows, walking his dog Mia, biking, collecting comic books, and traveling in the US and Mexico with his family and friends.
John was a loving and devoted brother. He is survived by his three siblings: Rebecca (Daniel) Segovia, Nekoosa; Cynthia (Javier) Loa, Wautoma; and Rick Sanchez, Stevens Point; Nephews/Nieces, Leon IV (Naomi), Jennifer (Mario), and God-daughter Brittany (Cody) Sanchez; Daniel (Samantha), Jessica, and Abraham (Kristin) Segovia, Jordan Friday; Timothy (Irina) Wolf, Michael, Javier Jr., and Thalia Loa; Kassandra (Aqeel) Jackson, Kristoffer and Annayellie Ysquierdo; eighteen great nephews/nieces, Kaiden, Xzaylia, Leon V, Gabriel, Mario, Braiden, Olivia, Xavier, Aria, Chloe, Carter, Bryson, Rylee, Bianca, Timothy III, Izrael, Dominick and Desmond. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other dear relatives and special friends. John was preceded in death by his Parents; Grandparents Leon Sr, Andrea, Arturo and Margarita, brother Leon III, sister Nancy, aunts, uncles and cousins.
John was a very caring soul, his spirit was larger than life and his sense of humor and youthful nature a constant reminder of his light-hearted and kind personality. He struck up a conversation easily with everyone he met and always had a smile. John will be loved forever by those who were fortunate to cross his path in this beautiful life.
Visitation will be held at 11AM on Monday, May 2, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wautoma followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12PM, with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Wautoma. Leikness Funeral Home, Wautoma is assisting the family with arrangements.
