John J. Meinen, age 72 of Hancock, died Tuesday morning, June 28, 2016 at the Wisconsin Veteran's Home, King. He was born on March 14, 1944 in Oshkosh to Clarence and Betty (Murphy) Meinen. John served in the U.S. Army in Germany as a Heavy Equipment Operator and Sharpshooter from 1961 to 1964 and was honorably discharged. On May 18, 1989 he married Marilyn Zuzga in Wautoma. John was a member of the Hancock American Legion Post 343. He loved nature and was a steward of the land.
John is survived by his wife: Marilyn Meinen; son: Jeffrey (Christa) Meinen; granddaughter: Alexandria Meinen; step son: Peter Zuzga; sister: Joyce Holmes; brothers: Gary (Vicki) Meinen, Michael (Kathy) Meinen; special niece: Jennifer (Douglas) Snitko; special friend: Mark and Margaret Marks, Jean Clark; many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: James Meinen.
Celebration of Life service will be held from 10AM to 12PM on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Leikness Funeral Home, Wautoma followed by Military Honors and burial at Woodville Cemetery.
