John Groskreutz

November 9, 1943 — October 4, 2016

John Gaylord Groskreutz, age 72, of Westfield, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born Nov. 9, 1943 in Berlin, the son of Gaylord and Adele (Drager) Groskreutz. He married Dianne Lynn Drewitz on Nov. 5, 1967 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westfield.

John was a graduate of Wautoma High School and later served his country United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Germany where he worked as a helicopter mechanic. John farmed the family homestead in the Town of Dakota until 1984 and then moved to Westfield and farmed in the Town of Newton until his retirement. John loved tractors, deer hunting and traveling. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne Groskreutz, Westfield; two sons, Jeffrey Groskreutz, Coloma, James (Tami) Groskreutz, Coloma; his "adopted son", Bob Cayer, Wautoma; seven grandchildren, Jesse, Justin, Joseph, Jalyssa, Johnathan, Brandon, and Isaac; two sisters, Jean (DuWayne) Zuelke, Wautoma, Carol (Lee) Acker, Montello; one brother, Carl (Lois) Groskreutz, Waupaca. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his daughter-in-law, Laura Groskreutz.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, Oct. 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, County Road Y and Deerborn Ave., Marquette County with Rev. Blaine O. Niskanen officiating. Inurnment with full military honors will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday at the Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
