Joanne Carlson

Joanne Louise Carlson, age 78 of Wautoma, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Juliette Manor, Berlin. She was born on August 4, 1941 in Milwaukee to Milton and Josephine (Kopatick) Muehl. On September 20, 1975 she married Marlin Carlson at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Milwaukee. Joanne worked at the Medical College of Wisconsin in the Registrar’s Office for 15 years, retiring in 2007. She was a past member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gethsemane Lutheran Church and current member of Hope Lutheran Church, Wautoma. Joanne was also a member at various times of Pine Tree Needlers Quilting Group, Log Cabin Quilt Guild, Wautoma Senior Center, Wautoma Fitness Center Silver Sneakers, Rock Steady Boxing Fighting Parkinson’s Disease, Christian Education Committee of the Greater Milwaukee Synod of the LCA and various book clubs. She served as Waushara County Cupboard as Secretary, Girl Scout Leader, lead various bible studies, co-coordinator of the Friday Meal Program at Reformation Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, children’s choir director at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, fill-in adult choir director and fill-in musician for worship services at St. Peter’s Lutheran, Sunday School Teacher and Vacation Bible School Teacher. Joanne enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking, traveling, reading and crossword puzzles. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Joanne is survived by her husband: Marlin Carlson; daughter: Pamela (Jim Umbreit) Dorna; son: Jeffery Place; special cousin: Ruth (Rutie) Wolf; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 11AM at Hope Lutheran Church, Wautoma. The family will greet relatives and friends at church on Saturday from 10AM until the time of services at 11AM.
