Mr. Jerry Tom Caswell, age 64, of Wautoma, died Sunday afternoon May 30, 2010 peacefully at home with his children around him. Jerry was born September 20, 1945 in Redgranite, the son of Plin and Mabel Soules Caswell. He was raised in Redgranite and was a 1964 Graduate of Wautoma High School. Jerry was a life long resident of Wautoma.



In his younger years Jerry was known for his athleticism. He loved sports, especially basketball, track and football and it showed in his performance. He would fill up the stands and light up the crowd with his quick, unexpected moves. After high school Jerry Graduated from barber school and worked in Redgranite. He then served as a sergeant in the United States Army (soldier of the 9th Infantry Division) in the Vietnam War from April 7th, 1967 to April 1969.



Following his time in the Army, Jerry was employed at the United State Postal Services for 31 years. Jerry also was a realtor, developer and auctioneer. He was the developer of Two Oaks North Golf Course, which is where he resided. Jerry also was a basketball and baseball coach for Little League and Wautoma Junior High students. Jerry was a past member of the Wautoma Area Fire Department. After retiring, Jerry spent his time developing a tree farm in Redgranite in honor of his kidney donor.



Jerry had been married to Judi Schley, whom he married July, 1966 in Wautoma. Jerry and Judi had 5 children Cory, Natalie, Jackie, Jill, and Jasey. Jerry loved being a father and was so proud of his children. One of Jerry's most beloved treasures however, were his six grandchildren: Cooper, Ashleigh, Ellaya, Coby, Conor, and Joey. He loved spending time with them and hearing all their stories. "Grandpa Jerry" will be greatly missed.



Survivors include 2 daughters, Jackie (Jeff) Kucharski of Cedarburg, and Jill (Ryan) Tetting of Appleton; and a son Jasey Caswell of Wautoma, 6 grandchildren, Ashleigh, Ellaya, and Joey Kucharski and Cooper, Coby, and Conor Tetting. 4 sisters, Betty (Ralph) Eannelli of Redgranite, Mamie ( the late Glenn) Butters of Ripon, Gloria ( Gary) Klug of Waupaca, and Susan (Joe) Moerke of Duluth, MN; 2 brothers, Robert ( Billie) Caswell of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Miles (Monica) Caswell of Neenah. Jerry is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers Steve Caswell and Tony Caswell; and 2 children Cory and Natalie Caswell.



The family would like to extend a heart felt "thank you" to Dr. Swanson and Mary Jo for all their kindness, support and excellent medical care as well as to ThedaCare Hospice. You helped keep dad at home, surrounded by all his pictures and wonderful memories, and we are so appreciative for that. Thank you also to Pastor Gregory Sluke for his many prayers and everyone who helped support dad these last few years. You mean so much to all of us and will never be forgotten. Finally, a special thank you to Dr. Pirsch and the UW Kidney Transplant Team and to the family of Dad's kidney donor, Dad was extremely greatful for his second lease on life and it allowed him to meet his grandchildren.



Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Trinity Lutheran Church, Redgranite with the Rev. Gregory Sluke officiating. Burial will be in the Wautoma Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. in the Leikness Funeral Home, Wautoma and from 10:00 a.m. Friday until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the UW Kidney Transplant Services would be appreciated: UW Hospital and Clinics Attn: Colleen Fraser
